The Science of Teaching & School Leadership Academy is the Center for Transformative Teaching & Learning’s flagship Mind, Brain, and Education conference for professional learning and pedagogical development. Educators and school leaders in independent, public, charter and collegiate learning environments worldwide learn from a select group of thought leaders and veteran educators and receive valuable science of teaching and learning resources created by teachers for teachers.

We would like to thank our five Academy Partner schools and districts who served as regional satellite locations – Miami Country Day School, Frederick County Public Schools (Md.), Lancaster Country Day School (Pa.), Breck School, and Colegio Merici (Mexico).

Registraton FAQs

Q: Where do I register for the Academy?
A: This year, the CTTL is using its learning platform to manage the Academy registration process. You can register for the Academy in the catalog at https://cttl.myabsorb.com/#/catalog

Q: Why are there two Academy items in the catalog?
A: There is only one Academy this year, but there are two items in the catalog because we want to be able to identify attendees by teaching or leadership division level. This will help us to place attendees in translation groups and ensure that attendees receive access to the breakout sessions that are most relevant to them.

Q: How do I register more than one person for the Academy?
A: To purchase more than one Academy registration at one time, first navigate to https://cttl.myabsorb.com/#/catalog and add the Academy event module to your cart. Update the quantity of tickets you want to purchase and apply any relevant discount codes before you input your payment information. When the transaction is complete, you will receive an enrollment key in your email. Distribute the enrollment key to each attendee to each for whom you purchased a ticket.

Q: What is an enrollment key?
A: An enrollment key is an alpha-numeric code that, when redeemed, allows an attendee to have access to the event module on our learning platform.

Q: How do I redeem the enrollment key?
A: Navigate to the learning platform at https://cttl.myabsorb.com . If you already have an account, click the blue Login button in the top right corner, log in and redeem the enrollment key using the tile on the main dashboard. If you do not have an account, click the gray Enrollment Key tile. When the Sign Up menu appears, copy and paste the enrollment key in the field; you will be prompted to create an account.

Q: Where will I find the meeting links and resources for the Academy?
A: The meeting links and workbook will be distributed through the event module on the learning platform. Additional resources, such as the MBE Strategies Placemat, will be mailed to registrants in advance of the Academy.

Q: Who should I contact if I have trouble with the registration process?
A: If you have questions about the registration process, or are experiencing trouble completing your registration, please contact our support team at academy@thecttl.org

Academy FAQs

Who should attend the Academy?

The Academy is designed for teachers and school leaders in public, independent, and charter schools worldwide who want to better understand elements of the science of learning. Our audience is mostly composed of educators in Pre-kindergarten through early collegiate level classes. You should feel comfortable attending even if your current role is not in the classroom. School counselors, instructional specialists, and senior administrators also attend the Academy.

How much do I need to know about the science of learning, or Mind, Brain, and Education Science (MBE), to attend the Academy?

The Academy is appropriate for those who are just starting on the journey to understand MBE, or those who are looking to learn more in order to set their professional development goals for the coming school year.

How can my school become an Academy Partner School?

Academy Partner Schools make a commitment to send at least three attendees to the Academy for each of three consecutive years. Ideally, a school’s attendee group would include at least one school leader each year. Attendees can participate virtually or in person to meet that commitment. Interested schools should email us at academy@thecttl.org for more information.

How can I attend the Academy virtually or in person?

In 2023, the CTTL is making the Academy available to attend virtually or in a hybrid format at one of five satellite locations. The satellite locations are at Frederick County Public Schools in Maryland, Lancaster Country Day School in Pennsylvania, Breck School in Minnesota, Miami Country Day School in Florida, and Colegio Merici in Mexico City. There is limited capacity to attend the Academy at a satellite location, so it is encouraged to register early.

Can I attend the Academy if I am a college student?

Yes. If you are a current undergraduate or graduate student, please email us at academy@thecttl.org for more information.

Where can I find the information about the Academy agenda and schedule?

The Academy will be in session on July 17-20, 2023 from 10:00am – 3:00pm ET. The daily agenda will be made available to Academy registrants via the Whova web or mobile application.

How do I register/purchase tickets?

You can purchase tickets for the virtual attendee experience here. Or purchase tickets for a hybrid experience at one of the five satellite locations here.

Academy Partner Schools should contact Chavonne Primus at cprimus@thecttl.org for special registration instructions.

How do I download the event app?

The Whova mobile app is available for download on the App Store and Google Play.

What if I can’t attend all four days?

We understand that schedule conflicts may arise. The general sessions and division-level deep dive sessions will be recorded and available to view on-demand through October 19, 2023.

What is the refund or cancellation policy?

You may cancel and receive a refund if your cancellation request is received by 11:59 PM ET on Monday, June 26. Due to costs incurred by the CTTL, refunds will be subject to a 20% administrative fee. Refunds will not be issued for cancellation requests submitted after June 26. The registration fee can be transferred to another individual or attendance at the following year’s Academy, upon request.

In the event the CTTL must cancel the Academy due to unforeseen circumstances, the CTTL will refund the cost of registration.

Unforeseen Circumstances Defined for Refund and Cancellation Policies:

Unforeseen circumstances is used to describe an event that is unexpected and prevents the CTTL from continuing with a conference, training, or webinar. Examples of such circumstances can include, but are not limited to, inclement weather or other natural disasters, site unavailability, technology challenges, and presenter absence.

Cancellation requests should be emailed to academy@thecttl.org .
