About the Science of Teaching and School Leadership Pre-Academy Workshop
Becoming a Research-Informed School or District
In an era where educational research is more accessible than ever, how can schools and districts leverage this evidence to enhance teaching, learning, achievement, growth, and the whole child’s school experience?
This interactive workshop is designed for educators and school leaders who want to bridge the gap between research and practice at scale. Participants will explore how to integrate the most promising research, strategies, and principles into their schools in a strategic, sustainable, and impactful way. Through hands-on activities, expert-led knowledge sharing, cross-educator sector discussions, and a human-centered design approach, attendees will leave equipped with practical strategies to build a culture of evidence-informed teaching and learning in their schools and districts.
Led by internationally recognized educators and researchers, this pre-Academy workshop will help you:
Identify and select promising research and strategies that align with your school or district’s mission.
Apply evidence-informed principles while considering student needs and a school or district’s strategic priorities.
Foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement for teachers and school leaders.
Design an actionable pathway for integrating research into classroom instruction and school-wide initiatives focused on elevating student achievement, development, and growth.
Whether you are from a large district, a small independent school, or somewhere in between, this session will give you the tools to initiate or refine your journey toward becoming a research-informed school or district. Ultimately, this learning experience could be the first step to improved academic outcomes, student well-being, and professional satisfaction. This workshop will also prepare you to engage deeply with the research, principles, and strategies shared during the Science of Teaching and School Leadership Academy—ensuring that your takeaways lead to meaningful, lasting change in your school or district.
Key questions this workshop will address:
- Why does becoming a research-informed school or district matter, and how will it benefit student learning and well-being?
- Which research findings are most relevant and impactful for your specific school or district?
- What does a research-informed school or district look like in action?
- How can educators and leaders balance research-informed strategies with the realities of their learning environments, school culture, and context?
- How do we move beyond “trendy” educational practices to sustainable, research-informed strategies?
- What frameworks and tools can help translate research into daily instructional and leadership decisions?
- How can human-centered design principles guide the shift toward a research-informed culture?
- What steps can educators take individually and collectively to begin or elevate their research-informed journey?
