St. Andrew's offers traditional photography, computer graphics and video, as well as Yearbook.
The photography program
at St. Andrew’s is a four level course of study that takes students from understanding the basics of light theory, film, and the 35 mm camera through the intricacies of printing in black and white. Students learn the difference between analog versus digital forms of photography, and come away having achieved fluency in an important contemporary art form and the ability to express their ideas with a traditional format that continues to excite attention and awe. In addition to formal design concepts, emphasis is placed on creativity, technique, style, interpretation, and the ability to edit and critique.
“Darkroom photography was my favorite visual arts class here at SAES. Being able to learn and see each step in producing an image in a hands on way was amazing and stimulated my brain so much more than just snapping an image with a digital camera! Learning different techniques
in the darkroom allowed me to develop my own trademark in a photo, a clear development of my own style. I am now taking a darkroom developing class in college and I am so glad St. Andrew’s introduced me to this art form!”
